Admissions Requirements for YSU
For successful admission into Yobe State University, YSU’s programs of study for any first or second degree, an applicant must meet the following requirements.
Admission to a YSU Undergraduate Program is based on one of two entry methods: UTME or Direct Entry.
UTME candidates must achieve the following standards to be admitted to YSU:
The candidates must be at least 16 years old.
Candidates must have a minimum of six (six) “Cs (Credits)” in their O’level results (s).
This must include English Language, Mathematics, and three other topics relevant to their program. A candidate who wishes to study law, for example, must have a “C” in English Language, Mathematics, Government/History, Economics, and English Literature.
Intending candidates must have a minimum score of 160 on the JAMB UTME exam.
Furthermore, candidates must take the Yobe State University post-UTME screening exam and perform very well on it (Depending on the course of study)
For admission to YSU, no more than ONE sitting result is accepted.
To avoid mix up, the candidates must select the appropriate subject combination for their courses.
Finally, in order to secure admission, students must achieve the required cutoff marks for their courses. This will be discussed in the following paragraph.
YSU Cut off Mark
Yobe State University’s UTME Cut-off Mark is 160. In the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, applicants should have chosen YSU their first option. Candidates must also have at least 5 Credit Passes in all applicable O’Level subjects, including MathematicsMathematics and English, in one sitting.
